Trade-off

Sometimes it’s hard to fathom why we do the things we do, why we can’t just let sleeping dogs lie… why we dig up issues best left buried & try to resurrect memories meant to be forgotten.

If we didn’t, we wouldn’t get into half the trouble we do! But then life wouldn’t be quite as interesting, now would it?

Wanted: Human guinea pig!

I’m worried.

I tried my hand at Chinese cooking to please someone. I apparently succeeded rather well. Now I am expected to replicate that feat at some point of time in the future.

Here’s the problem: I have no clue HOW I managed that.

I have the exact recipe given by a kitchen goddess friend (Check out her blog at http://pragyaskitchen.blogspot.com/) But I never follow recipes to a T… I use the basic construct of the recipe as an outline to skirt around… I throw in a little less of this & a little more of that, I skip whatever I don’t feel like adding and maybe add a few extras of my own. Somehow in this haphazard way, I managed the near-perfect veg fried rice & veg/paneer Schezwan.

The only way I can think of replication is through practice. For the life of me, I can’t distinguish Paneer Schezwan from Paneer Manchurian, so essentially I need to find a willing subject for these experiments!

Wanted: Human guinea pig exhibiting tolerance for smell of Chinese food & willingness to consume the same. Essential – ability to distinguish between Chinese-smelling garbage & edible food that can be fed to Chinese-crazy boyfriend without endangering the future of the relationship. Subject will be well-fed (in quantity if not quality) and shall be well-supplied with water & other non-alcoholic bevarages in case of unforeseen emergencies involving green chillies in any form.

Getting Started

It’s a queer kind of thrill – freedom almost – in abandoning an old blog and starting a new one… It’s like re-inventing yourself in a way.

I shan’t start off with the obvious promises about writing regularly. I’ll write as & when I feel like and about what interests me. However, I shall try to temper my opinions & views with some reticence in this one… if that’s possible, that is!

For anyone expecting fireworks & drama from me, disregard the name of the blog, me’s a good girl
